Radical Racing Team is here to emphasize fun, progression, and comradery.

Our Club Team is for riders to race locally in a fun and stress-free environment while getting expert coaching on mountain bike skills, racing strategies, training insights, and more

All skill levels and race categories are welcome! 

Do you have a passion for racing, improving your riding, and/or team building? 

Bellingham’s Radical Racing Team is known for exceptional rider development and for creating an inclusive atmosphere that encourages riders and racers to find and grow their potential, build lifelong bonds, and celebrate the fun of mountain biking. Join us to promote the sport of cycling  and demonstrate your commitment to teamwork and to the cycling community. You can also try racing for the first time in a fun and stress-free environment. No previous race experience required.

In an effort to help more and more riders try racing or continue progressing their skills for racing, we are including a Club Race Team option for no additional costs (aside from what you pay to register for the race(s)) in our Spring Radical Ripper Program. 

Radical Racing Club Race Team includes:

  • The Club Race Team will practice on Mondays to pre-ride the race course for that week's race with the help of Coaches Syra, Julia, and others, taking time to scope lines, practices sections/features, and get comfortable with the course.

  • The first local race series of the season is the GGR races on Saturdays (April 20th - May 11th)

  • The second series is the Whatcom MTB Coalition (WMBC) Whatcom World Cup (WWC) series with races on Wednesdays (May 8th - Summer)

  • For more details about practice and race locations you will need to be registered for Spring Radical Rippers.

  • The next race is April 20th so there is still plenty of time to join and practice for this race with us.

  • No previous experience needed!

  • Homework assignments for before race day

  • Race day support with our expert coaches who are there to make sure the riders all get to the top, have what they need, feel prepared enough to drop in, advocating for them if/when needed, provide mechanical support, and have a debrief with the team at the end of the race.

  • Team jersey or t-shirt

  • Team discount on group lesson

  • Belonging to an inclusive, supportive, team who’s got your back and enjoys seeing you try and succeed.

    NOTE Race Directors will require their own parental waivers and registration fees. Some race directors will require all racers to race in a full face helmet. More information and details will be shared once you have registered.

Requirements to Join

  • This program has historically been designed to serve riders who self-identify as FTWN-B (femme, trans, women/girls, and/or non-binary). However, we pride ourselves in prioritizing fun safe spaces for ALL riders and therefore will not turn anyone away who is interested in joining and contributing to these safe, inclusive spaces for all humans, regardless of gender.

  • Riders must have a well-fitting, mountain bike appropriate for off-road use that is in good working order.

    • The bike must include hand brakes (front and rear) that the rider can safely use, a wide range of gears, a seat post that can move up for climbs and down for descents, and knobby off-road tires.

    • Please no kick-stands or bar-ends.

    • If you aren't sure about the condition your bike is in, be sure to take it to your local mechanic for advice and a tune-up.

  • Riders must have a proper fitting helmet in good condition that hasn’t been involved in any crashes (please message us if you need help getting a helmet, we have some spares)

    • Radical Racing Club Team - Race Directors do require that all racers must race in a full face helmet

  • Comfortable riding clothes and layers for mixed weather

  • An open mind and positive attitude for learning.

    • Riders should be prepared to receive constructive feedback on their technique and hold a desire to learn new things and have fun while demonstrating good sportsmanship and respect towards coaches and each other.

  • Radical Racing Club Team - Race Directors will require their own parental waivers and registration fees (we will supply a discount for you)
