At Radical Roots MTB, we believe progression works best when riders feel supported, challenged, safe, and genuinely excited to learn.
Our coaching approach is built around creating low-consequence learning environments where riders can focus on body position, timing, balance, technique, and decision-making without unnecessary pressure or overwhelm. From there, we methodically layer in complexity and challenge so each new skill builds on a foundation of successful experiences.
Because confidence doesn’t come from being pushed past your limits—it comes from developing trust in yourself, your skills, and your ability to adapt.

Fun
Mountain biking should be fun—and we know “fun” looks different for everyone.
For some riders, fun means building confidence. For others, it’s getting air, riding technical trails, sessioning features, exploring new terrain, or simply feeling more comfortable on the bike.
Our coaches tailor each session to your goals, learning style, and comfort level while creating an encouraging, low-pressure environment where progression feels exciting instead of intimidating. We bring the right mix of enthusiasm, patience, support, and expertise to help you enjoy the process as much as the outcome.
And sometimes, we’ll even help you discover new kinds of fun you didn’t know existed on a bike.
Safe
Mountain biking is an inherently risky sport, and proper skills training can help prevent unnecessary crashes, frustration, and fear.
Our progressive coaching approach begins in low-consequence environments—like flat ground, grass, or controlled practice areas—so riders can focus on body position, timing, balance, braking, and technique before adding speed, terrain, or technical complexity.
We use thoughtfully designed progressions and coaching tools to help riders build confidence through understanding and repetition, not pressure or intimidation.
Safety is more than physical protection—it’s creating a learning environment where riders feel supported, respected, and excited to progress at their own pace.
Progression

Our coaching process methodically layers complexity so riders develop strong foundations before moving to more advanced terrain, speed, or technical challenges. Each successful experience builds confidence, self-awareness, and trust in your abilities.
Practice makes progress, and every session includes practical tools and personalized feedback to help you continue improving long after the lesson ends. We call it “fun homework”—focused practice that keeps learning engaging, rewarding, and sustainable.

What to Expect
Technique Building
Our progressive coaching system starts in low-consequence settings so riders can focus on body position, timing, balance, braking, and execution before adding complexity. Strong foundations create lasting progression.
Personalized Feedback
Direct, individualized feedback accelerates learning in ways videos and books simply can’t.
Our experienced coaches use observation, video analysis and feedback, and clear communication to help riders identify strengths, refine technique, and reach personal progression goals.
Bike Inspection and fit support
Every session starts with a quick bike safety check and basic fit assessment to help ensure your bike supports a safe, comfortable, and effective learning experience.
Trail Application
Skills are meant to be used on real trails.
We help riders apply new techniques in practical trail settings so they can build confidence, flow, control, and decision-making where it matters most. Want help on a specific trail or feature? We can often tailor sessions to your goals and local terrain.
High Fives Included
We genuinely love seeing riders succeed.
When something clicks, we celebrate right alongside you. Progress deserves recognition, encouragement, and yes—probably a few enthusiastic high fives.

Continued Learning & Support
Learning takes practice, patience, and repetition.
To support continued progression, riders receive post-session notes, practice recommendations, and “fun homework” designed to reinforce new skills. We’re also available after your session if questions come up while practicing or applying what you learned on the trail.
Because progression doesn’t stop when the clinic ends.
