Foundations of Wheel Lifts and Roll-Downs

As one of the most helpful skills for making mountain biking more controlled, predictable, smooth, and safe - proper wheel lifts are key to fun, safe, progression.

  • Do you lift your wheels off the ground on purpose? Do you ram your wheels into things or get scared or uncomfortable when they leave the ground?

  • As one of the most helpful skills for making mountain biking more controlled, predictable, smooth, and safe - wheel lifts make your life on trails much more enjoyable

  • Roll-downs are riding small drops or ledges that can be rolled down without lifting the front wheel into the air (drops), which help riders tackle steeper and more technical terrain

  • Students will leave this class with a deeper understanding of how to smooth out technical trails, safely approach steeper sections of trail, and intentionally get their wheels off the ground as a foundation for catching air (and landing properly).
